Now Presenting Robot Prison Guards

Now I’m guessing everyone has seen at least one film with a robot, maybe with a robots in charge, The Terminator ring a bell?

But now fiction is becoming fact. Welcome the Robot Prison Guards.

A prison system in South Korea’s eastern city of Pohang will be robot guards to help monitor the inmates for abnormal behavior, to help and ease the workload of the human guards. 

These new robot guards only stand at three 5ft-high (1.5m), and they move on four wheels and are equipped with cameras and other sensors that allow them to detect risky behavior such as violence and suicide.

These new guards will be coming into effect for a three month trial beginning in March.

Contact Lens’s of the Future

Contact Lens are mainly used by those who wear glasses, but now the uses are changing. New technological advances in the US have led scientists to create digital contact lenses. 

These new digital lenses look like normal contacts but are slimmer and flatter in design.

The current prototype lens only contains one pixel but the designers hope to create a finished product that allows the user to read emails and text messages.

But the designers are also keen on developing the lens and integrating it with biosensors in the user’s body. This would allow the user to receive up-to-date information on glucose or lactate levels.
