The event focussed predominantly on the field of robotics
and autonomy within robotics. The morning session consisted of six speakers for
different organisations ranging from Oxford Innovation to Professor Sandor
Veres of Southampton University, who
spoke about autonomous Vehicle Control Systems.
After the morning break, session
two kicked off with another five companies speaking about the benefits of their
specific technologies in relation to robotics and autonomy. The key growth
markets for the majority of the organisations represented today were Defence,
Health/Medical and Aerospace. It was somewhat frustrating that there was no more
time allowed or available to speak to everyone. (can we change that to a
section at the bottom that lists Pros/Cons of the event)
After lunch another round
of speakers from BAE Systems, Qinetiq, Vodaphone, Applied Technologies and
Astrium, shared their insight into robotics.
The event concluded around
17.30pm with Tony Jorden of Astrium discussing Robotic Autonomy in Planetary
Exploration & Space Science Missions.
